This is one of the REAL reasons why Bush & Co. went into Iraq, and are now threatening to go into Iran. They want to maintain American hegemony over world oil production. But it's not going to work. They really needed to raise the interest rate to save the dollar, even though it would be at the risk of severely hampering the American economy. But now, the dollar will continue to plummet in value, and the American economy will still be destroyed in the long-run (which isn't that far away these days).
